Concert d' Emel Mathlouthi à Sfax

Hier j 'ai assisté au dernier d'une série de 3 concerts donnés par Emel Mathlouthi en Tunisie. Après Tunis et  Kalaa Kbira, Emel a chanté au théâtre municipal de Sfax. Une mission qui n 'a pas été vraiment facile pour elle puisqu'elle est tombée malade le jour même , une bronchite qui nous a fait tous trembler. Après l 'intervention d'un médecin , Emel s'est dirigée vers le théâtre une trente minutes avant le concert. Tout était déjà en place grâce à un groupe sérieux et harmonieux. Avec le coup d'envoi , on a pu voir une Emel belle et rayonnante; une petite robe noire très simple et élégante les chveux attachés et embellis avec une belle rose. Le public a largement applaudi ' Bghaibtek Nezel Echété' , une reprise de la chanson de Marcel Khalifa. Malgré la maladie et la fatigue Emel  accompagnée par son bassiste Nicholas Bauer  a assuré.Puis une chanson du folklore tunisien 'A Bab', 'Ethnya Twila', 'Nammen Bik'. Emel a ensuite chanté ' Helma' malgré que l'organisateur  luia demandé de ne pas la chanter  cinq minute avant le concert. Elle a fait un hommage à Sidi Bouzid sous les applaudissements des spectateurs et le désarroi des organisateurs.

L 'oragnisateur m 'a demandée de le rejoindre dans le hall externe du théatre juste après la reprise de la chanson  du cheikh Emam ' Chayed Kousourek'  faite  par Emel. Il m 'a fait comprendre qu 'il était super faché à cause du répertoire chanté par Emel et à cause de sa mention des évènements de Sidi Bouzid. Il m ' a reprochée de l 'avoir chantée avec un groupe d'amis en faisant le signe de la victoire. Il faut mentionner que mes amis n 'ont pas hésité de crier les slogans criès à Sidi Bouzid , avec chaque  chanson parlant de la Tunisie et des libertés. J 'ai beau lui expliquer que je suis responsable ni du répertoire d 'Emel ni du comportement de mais amis, il n 'a rien voulu entendre. Je lui ai aussi expliqué qu 'un artiste ne peut pas changer son programme cinq minutes après le choix et que rien ne l 'oblige à changer son programme mais envain. Aprés une longue discussion vaine j 'ai rejoint   la salle  de spectacle de nouveau pour savourer les chansons d'une  artiste exceptionnelle. Imed Alibi le percussioniste et Zied Zouari le violoniste se sont donnés à fond. La surprise de la soirée fut la nouvelle chanson d 'Emel ' Kif netwa7ech' chantant la patrie et la mère. Emel a aussi chanté en Turque et en Anglais. Elle a épaté le public en jouant avec sa guitare un morceau  musical avec son violoniste . Ils étaient si harmonieux.

Emel  jouait de sa voix aussi bien que de son corps. Elle interprétait les chansons avec une grande sensibilité. Sa présence sur scène a été exceptionnelle. Elle a fini son concert avec la chanson de 'Bine el Wedyene' avec un nouveau arrangement musical . Le public l 'a longuement applaudie malgré le fait que la plupart des spectateurs l 'ont découvert   pour la première fois.Le concert fut un grand succès.
Une remarque aux organisateurs: les billets étaient trop chers. Il fallait penser à un prix  pour étudiants.

Sidi Bouzid is Burning (2)

 One week after  the beginning of the  riots in Sidi Bouzid , following the immolation by fire of a young man, the assessment of  the situation is more than necessary. Riots are continuing in Sidi Bouzid and they even disseminated to other parts of the area including: Meknassy, Menzel Bouzeyen, and Mezzouna.

 On Wednesday 22^nd, another young man Houcine Neji committed suicide by electrocution. His mother died few hours later. Despite the propagation of the clashes in the area, authorities and official media declared that the clashes were an ‘isolated incident’ and they even denounced its exploitation for   unsound political purposes by the opposition.

Today, another young man died. However this death is different from the two others as, Mohamed Ameri, a mathematics teacher, did not try to commit suicide. Indeed, he was shot by the police during a demonstration. We talk about a dozen persons wounded. Another teacher, Issam Ghaberi, was violently assaulted by police and thrown in a critical situation outside his town. 

The situation is getting worse especially that the government is not trying to find a long- term and sound solution to the situation. The authorities announced new development projects but these measures did not satisfy Sidi Bouzid inhabitants as the violent clashes erupted again between police and demonstrators (Menzel Bouzayane). Moreover, using an oppressive policy aggravated the situation: denying the reality of facts, cutting electricity and internet connection, using force and multiplying the number of policemen in the region were all facts that sparked public anger. 

Support actions were launched inside and outside Tunisia. Calls for other support actions are flourishing on internet. Rumors say that the authorities are sending military forces as reinforcement for the police forces besieging the area.

Tunisia: Unemployed Man's Suicide Attempt Sparks Riots(GVO)

An unemployed Tunisian set himself on fire in protest against his joblessness, sparking a wave of riots on the ground and solidarity and support on social networking platforms.
While the fate of Mohamed Bouazizi, aged 26, from Sidi Bouzid, in southern Tunisia, remains unclear, Tunisian netizens ceased the incident to complain about the lack of jobs, corruption and deteriorating human rights conditions in their country.

Du militantisme !

Pleurer dans un coin , paraitre triste , s'isoler ? ces in- actions vont elles résoudre le problème de Sidi Bouzid? Porter des haillons, être mal coiffé , et porter une écharpe palestinienne sont ils  les signes d 'un vrai militant? Faut il etre pauvre pour défendre les droits de l 'Homme? Ces questions et bien d'autres hantent mes pensées depuis quelques années.

Lorsque j 'ai vécu aux États Unis pendant une année  chaque fois ou j'avais supporté une cause se rapportant à la Tunisie j 'étais surprise de trouver une dizaine de messages me reprochant mon soutien pour des causes pour des gens que je ne  connaissais pas . On m 'accusait d'hypocrisie. Comment une jeune femme qui vit tranquillement et aisément aux États Unis  ( c 'est vous qui ne connaissez pas la réalité de la vie loin du pays) pourrait elle penser à Rdeyef ou à une grève de la faim commencée par des étudiants privés de leur droit à l'éducation .

Un beau jour je suis rentrée en Tunisie, et j 'ai continué à soutenir des causes qui me tiennent à cœur. En Tunisie aussi on a trouvé le moyen de me reprocher des choses. Tu ne dois pas t 'habiller de la sorte, tu es une militante ( oh que je hais ce mot). Tu ne dois pas fréquenter cet endroit , tu es une militante! Tu ne dois pas danser , tu ne dois pas sortir la nuit , tu ne dois pas ... tu ne dois pas ... ou encore comment oses tu sortir faire un petit tour avec des amis  alors que des gens font des protestations au sud de la Tunisie? 

 Pour commencer je ne me considère pas comme une militante . Le mot militant est un mot sacré pour moi . Un militant c 'est quelqu'un de sacré pour moi. Je me considérerai peut être comme une petite , une toute petite activiste pour les droits de l 'Homme. Et tel que je vois les choses et selon ma modeste expérience ni les larmes ,  ni la misère , ni l 'isolement  sont les solutions pour résoudre les problèmes. Il faut croquer la vie  à pleines dents , il faut faire ce qu'on aime , il faut être heureux pour pouvoir aider les gens.  Sinon comment peut on offrir aux gens  une chose qu 'on ne possède  pas nous même . Si je vais suivre la logique de ces gens , alors il fautue je coupe  l 'électricité et la connexion  chez moi pour montrer réellement que je soutiens les habitants de Sidi Bouzid de tout cœur . Il faut que j 'entame une grève de la faim de 59 jours pour aider ceux qui font la grève.

Jugend ohne Hoffnung - Immer mehr Selbstmorde

Immer häufiger hört man von Selbstmorden junger Tunesier aufgrund von Hoffnungslosigkeit bei der Suche nach Arbeit, Zukunftsangst breitet sich aus.

2 Beispiele seien genannt: Abdesselem Trimech wollte ein Geschäft in Monastir eröffnen, scheiterte aber an Schikanen durch die Behörden.

Hani El Chamseddine aus Gafsa verbrannte sich nach unzähligen erfolglosen Bewerbungen und einer gescheiterten Emigration nach Europa.

Der jüngste Fall von Selbstverbrennung ist der des Mohamed Bouazizi, eines Hochschulabsolventen und Kaufmann aus Sidi Bouzid. Nachdem die Behörden seine Ware beschlagnahmt hatten (Obst und Gemüse) goß sich der zwanzigjährige Kaufmann Benzin über den Kopf und steckte sich vor der Präfektur an. Dies rief Proteste der Bevölkerung hervor. Nach einem friedlichen Sit-In eskalierte die Situation. Mit massiver Polizeipräsenz verhinderte die Polizei ein Eindringen der Demonstranten in die Präfektur. Die Protestler bewarfen darauhin das Gebäude und Polizeifahrzeuge mit Steinen. In Folge kam es an mehreren Stellen der Stadt zu weiteren Protesten, ein Auto, Reifenstapel und Müll wurde auf den Straßen entzündet, die Front eines Geschäfts wurde beschädigt.

Der arbeitslose Hochschulabsolvent, der mit seiner Handelstätigkeit in Obst und Gemüse als Alleinverdiener seine Familie über die Runden bringen wollte, liegt im Krankenhaus und kämpft um sein Leben.

Sidi Bouzid is Burning

Recently, the number of cases of immolation by fire has increased in Tunisia. The protagonists of these actions are generally Tunisian citizens who have lost all hope in  a decent life. Unemployment and poverty are au rendezvous and have poisoned their lives. Some of these incidents are largely  covered by the media – by media I mean  citizen media (blogs, Facebook, Twitter) as our official media are limiting their activities  to  the presentation of  the activities of the President, the activities of the party in power, those of the associations related  to the ruling party, international news- , sport etc. Others incidents are not covered at all. I will mention some of these  immolation by fire incidents: the death of Abdesselem Trimech  in Monastir after he set fire in his body  last April, an incident that aroused the interest of civil society and  shook citizens who expressed their anger and outrage at the government’s indifference towards the plights of its citizens in the streets  the day of his funeral, the death of Hani Chamseddine El (unnoticed), the latter originating from  Metlaoui in Gafsa, unemployed burned himself on  November 19, 2010 following the rejection of  his many job applications and the failure of his attempts of illegal immigration. He died the same evening in Metlaoui’s hospital. The most recent self-immolation case the is that of Mohamed Bouazizi, an unemployed from Sidi Bouzid  who  graduated  from Mahdia university .  The matter made all the inhabitants of Sidi Bouzid angry. They went to the streets spontaneously to express their anger and discontent. The government response was predictable: police and paddy wagons everywhere and the worst is feared.

Faced with a government indifferent to the sufferings of the citizens, the various components of the civil society and the country's elites should act. Talking about the matter for a few days is not enough. Our sociologists, psychologists, and our researchers in general should investigate these cases thoroughly. They must try to find solutions and make recommendations.
