GVO: Tunisia: Lawyers Assaulted for their Sidi Bouzid Stand

Tunisian lawyers have been making a stand throughout Sidi Bouzid’s events - and paying the price for it.
They have been protesting regularly to denounce what happened in Sidi Bouzid and the social situation in Tunisia. This is why the government has decided to ‘punish’ them. Every day, news of the kidnapping, arrest, or assault of lawyers is surfacing on social networking sites.

Une journée Horrible pour les Avocats

Le vendredi, 31 Décembre2010,  les avocats  tunisiens ont décidé de  se réunir à nouveau, portant un badge rouge, pour exprimer leur soutien à Sidi Bouzid habitants et à dénoncer les arrestations et l'utilisation de balles réelles dans plusieurs régions du pays ainsi que l’arrestation de plusieurs avocats et leur agression tout au long des évènements de Sidi Bouzid  . Mais comme d'habitude le gouvernement a décidé d'empêcher ces rassemblements à travers le recours à la violence. A Tunis,par exemple,  des agents de police en civil et les agents de la  force  de sécurité  ont assiégé de la zone du palais de justice. Ils ont empêché certains avocats d'entrer dans la zone et laisser d'autres y accéder. Lorsque les  avocats tenté de quitter la Maison du Barreau, où ils se réunissaient, les forces de sécurité sont intervenues et ont utilisé la violence. Certains avocats tels que: Leila Ben Debba et Samia Abbou, Hichem Guerfi, Fawzi Ben Mrad  ont été battus avec des matraques. Ils sont gravement blessés. De tels incidents se sont  produits dans différents gouvernorats et villes de la Tunisie. Nous avons entendu parler d'agressions contre des avocats dans Grombalia, Gafsa, Monastir, Mahdia, Sfax, Kasserine ... etc

De plus les forces de l’ordre ont confisqué les portables et les appareils photos des avocats pour effacer tous les enregistrements des affrontements.

Bloody Day for Lawyers #sidibouzid

On Friday, December 31st,  lawyers in different areas of Tunisia decided to gather again, wearing red badges,  to express their support to Sidi Bouzid inhabitants and to denounce the arrests and the use of live ammunition in several  regions of the country. But  as usual the government decided to prevent these gatherings through the use of violence as well as the arrest of several lawyers throughout the Sidi Bouzid's events. In Tunis, for example police officers in plainclothes and security forces besieged the area of the courthouse. They prevented some lawyers from entering the area and let some others access it. When the layers tried to leave the Bar House where they were gathering, the security forces intervened and used violence. Some lawyers such as : Leila Ben Debba and Samia Abbou where badly beaten with truncheons. They are seriously injured. Such incidents happened in different  Governorates and cities of Tunisia. We heard about assaults against lawyers in Grombalia , Gafsa, Monastir, Mahdia , Sfax , Kasserine... etc

Moreover, the police officers seized the  lawyers' mobile phones and cameras to delete any record of the incidents.

Demonstration von Rechtsanwälten am Dienstag, 28. Dezember 2010.

Am Dienstag, den 28. Dezember 2010 organisierten 28 tunesische Anwälte eine Demonstration zur Unterstützung der Bewohner von Sidi Bouzid. Die Kundgebung fand vor dem erstinstanzlichen Gericht von Tunis statt. Wie üblich waren Polizisten in großer Zahl vorort. Die Anwälte sangen mehrfach die tunesische Nationalhymne, riefen aber auch Parolen zur Unterstützung der Bürger von Sidi Bouzid. Sie brachten aber auch ihren Unmut gegenüber der Regierungspartei, der regierenden Familie und dem Innenministerium zum Ausdruck.

 

Danach hielten mehrere Anwälte Reden über die Situation in Sidi Bouzid und die allgemeine Situation in Tunesien. Einige Menschen, besonders Frauen, die die Demonstration erlebt hatten, traten hervor und sprachen spontan über ihre eigenen Probleme, wie es in dem folgenden Video der Fall ist: 

Nachfolgend betraten die Anwälte das Gericht und wiederholten ihre Slogans. Sie sprachen mit einigen der Richter und baten sie, unabhängig zu sein.

Später am Nachmittag wurden zwei Anwälte, die an der Demonstration teilgenommen hatten, festgenommen, namentlich sind es Chokri Belaid und Abderrahmen Ayadi.

Lawyers' Demonstration Tuesday 28th, 2010;

On Tuesday 28th, Tunisian lawyers organized a demonstration in support to the inhabitants of Sidi Bouzid. The demonstration took place in front of the First Instance Court of Tunis. As usual, Police officers were present in great numbers . The lawyers sang the national anthem many times. They shouted slogans expressing their support to Sidi Bouzid inhabitants. But they also shouted slogans against the ruling party, the ruling family , and the ministry of interior.

After that, several lawyers gave speeches about the situation in Sidi Bouzid and the general situation in Tunisian. Some people, especially women, who witnessed the demonstration joined it and talked about their own problems spontaneously as was the case for the woman in the following video :

After that , the lawyers went into the first instance court  and shouted the slogans again . They addressed some of them to the judges asking them to be independent .

Later in the afternoon, two lawyers who took part in the demonstration  were arrested they are : Chokri Belaid and Abderrahmen Ayadi.

Unterstützungsdemonstration Sidi Bouzid (2)

Die zweite Demonstration zur Unterstützung von Sidi Bouzid fand am heutigen Montag, den 27. Dezember 2010 in Tunis statt. Sie begann um 13.00 Uhr am Med Ali Platz. Ich war nicht überrascht zu sehen, dass die Anzahl der Polizisten die der Demonstranten überstieg. Dennoch war die Menge größer als bei der ersten Demonstration. Die Menschen sangen gemeinsam die tunesische Nationalhymne, danach riefen sie Slogans über die Menschenwürde, das Recht auf Arbeit und die Freiheit, die Pressefreiheit und das freie Recht zu demonstrieren.

Als sich ein Protestzug formierte und die Demonstranten durch die Straßen ziehen wollten, wurden die Menschen daran gehindert. Polizisten bedrängten die Protestler und schlugen sie mit ihren Schlagstöcken, einige bewarfen die Demonstranten sogar mit Steinen. Vier Personen wurden schwer verletzt. Einige Demonstranten versuchten, die Verletzten ins Krankenhaus zu bringen, wurden jedoch von Sicherheitskräften daran gehindert, den Place Mohamed Ali zu verlassen. Die Zusammenstöße zwischen den Polizisten und den Demonstranten dauerte ein paar Stunden. Der Innenminister war während der Demonstration anwesend.

 

Journalisten wurden bei ihrer Arbeit behindert und ständig schikaniert.
